Those who have opened gold shops must apply for a license before February 17, and about 500 people have applied so far, said U Zaw Win, Minister for Natural Resources of the Yangon Region Government.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the (free) training course on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism No. (20) organized by the Yangon Region Gold Entrepreneurs Association, Minister for Natural Resources U Zaw Win said.

“It is set until the 17th of this month. This is decided by the center. If you do not apply (for a license), if the next draft law is issued, how will you do business if you cannot open a shop without these? So apply. Tell your local shops and ask them to apply,” said U Zaw Win, Minister for Natural Resources.

Those who have opened a gold shop must apply to the initial screening committee, and they can come and collect the application at the Industrial Park in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region. The minister continued that more than 1,000 applications have been received so far, and more than 500 have been resubmitted.

“There are more than 1,000 people who have come to collect applications, almost 1,100. About 500 have submitted applications. About half are still pending,” said U Zaw Win, Minister of Natural Resources.

In addition, when applying for a gold shop license, shops that have branches must also apply for a license with the approval of the relevant township administrative groups, said U Zaw Lin Htet, Vice Chairman of the Kyauktada District Administrative Group.

“If you have five shops, you must apply for a license in five places. After 17 days, the license application will be closed and the groups that have submitted applications will be initially examined by the regional authorities,” said U Zaw Lin Htet.
