A total of 856 road accidents occurred in the regions/states and the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway from January to March 2025, resulting in 453 deaths and 1,265 injuries, according to the Department of Road Transport.

During the period, there were 26 road accidents in Nay Pyi Taw, resulting in 24 deaths and 56 injuries; 15 road accidents in Kachin State, resulting in 14 deaths and nine injuries; 12 road accidents in Kayin State, resulting in 10 deaths and seven injuries; 12 road accidents in Sagaing Region, resulting in nine deaths and 11 injuries; and 15 road accidents in Tanintharyi Region, resulting in nine deaths and 21 injuries.

Similarly, there were 125 road accidents in Bago Region, resulting in 57 deaths and 166 injuries; 28 road accidents in Magway Region, resulting in 10 deaths and 11 injuries; There were 10 fatalities and 51 injuries, 102 accidents in Mandalay Region, 67 fatalities and 153 injuries, 77 accidents in Mon State, 33 fatalities and 110 injuries, 2 accidents in Rakhine State, 193 accidents in Yangon Region, 88 fatalities and 212 injuries, 72 accidents in Shan State, 56 fatalities and 127 injuries, 132 accidents in Ayeyarwady Region, 57 fatalities and 226 injuries, 45 accidents on expressways, 17 fatalities and 116 injuries.

From January to March 2024, a total of 1,105 traffic accidents occurred in regions/states and the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, resulting in 585 deaths and 1,556 injuries.
