The six regions/states that were hit hard by the earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28 have reported 3,798 deaths, 5,106 injuries and 106 missing as of today (April 29).
Myanmar Fire Service and search and rescue teams from both inside and outside the country are conducting timely search and rescue operations in the affected areas, and have rescued people trapped in buildings. To date, 653 survivors have been rescued and 778 victims have been recovered.
Local volunteers are donating money and materials to the affected people, while foreign countries, organizations and volunteers are donating money and materials. From 7pm on April 28 to 5pm on April 29, a relief package of food, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other items donated by Fo Guang Shani Bussha’s Light International Association Yayasan Sin Chew, based in Malaysia, will be delivered to Yangon International Airport. Blankets, mosquito nets, bedding, solar lamps, and tents (3.918 tons); medicines (2.185 tons) provided by the China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association; mosquito nets and bedding (5.547 tons) provided by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation; Tetanus Diphtheria (TD) vaccine and Meases Rubella vaccine (0.49 tons) provided by Serum Institute of India Pvt Ltd; (10) wooden boxes containing tents (7.636 tons) and (2.349 tons) provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The relief materials are also being distributed to the affected people as soon as possible.
