16 Malaysians and one Algerian national who were involved in online fraud and criminal activities have been deported.

The government is investigating and combating online fraud and criminal activities in cooperation with neighboring countries and international organizations, and is systematically deporting foreign nationals involved in these activities to their respective countries.

As such, 16 Malaysians and one Algerian national, a total of 17 people who entered Myanmar illegally through border routes and engaged in online gambling, online fraud and criminal activities from the Shwe Kuk Kok (KK Park) area of ​​Myawaddy Township, Karen State, were deported to their respective countries today (April 29) in accordance with legal procedures, in the interests of humanity and friendship between the two countries.

In order to ensure the smooth and orderly repatriation process, Karen State Minister of Social Affairs U Saw Htun Aung and officials closely inspected and coordinated the process.

Then, the repatriation ceremony was held, and the Minister of Social Affairs of Karen State and officials, Counsellor Mr. Zoheir Boudraa and officials from the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Malaysia, Counsellor Ms. Jarin Sajayabinti Abdul Hathi and officials from the Embassy of Malaysia in Thailand, and officials from the Immigration Department of Tak Province, Thailand were present. Officials from Myanmar systematically handed over the supporting documents for the repatriation to officials from the relevant countries.
