Four youths have been arrested for robbing a Tate Shein Gold Shop in Pabedan Township, Yangon Region.

At 8:45 a.m. on March 23 (today), at the Tate Shein Gold Shop on Maha Bandula Road, between (29) and (30) Streets, Ward No. 6, Pabedan Township, Yangon Region, four masked men entered the shop while the owner’s daughter was with seven female employees. One of the four men held a handgun and threatened them with a gun, then stole various gold items worth about 20 kyats (worth about 1.2 billion kyats) from the glass counter.

Security forces conducted a search operation to arrest the perpetrators. Based on information from the people around the scene, it was learned that the perpetrator of the robbery drove a white Toyota Corolla taxi with the license plate number YGN-42 AA-1938 towards Pansodan Road. The taxi was searched and at 11:00 a.m., the driver, Sithu Kyaw (43), was found with the vehicle at the intersection of Wardan Road and Anawrahta Road in Ward No. (2) of Lanmadaw Township. He was taken into custody and questioned. According to the driver, Sithu Kyaw, he had taken the perpetrators to the intersection of Kanna Road and Bo Aung Kyaw Road in Ward No. (9) of Kyauktada Township for 4,000 kyats. The investigation continued and at 2:15 p.m., the Casa Myanmar Hotel at Bo Aung Kyaw Road, No. (114/116), Ward No. (7), Bo Aung Kyaw Road, In Room No. (301), the four perpetrators of the robbery at the Tay Sheen Gold Shop were Lin Thant Aung (18) of Patmyar Ward, Kyaik Tho Township, Mon State; Thet Htoo Zin (20) of Pao Pyaw Village, Thaton Township; Kaung Khant Thura (B) Wathon (19) of Ward No. (19) of Shwe Pyi Thar Township; and Min Khant Ko (B) Poe Ka (19) of Sit Bo Gyi Village, Daik U Township, Bago Region. They were found and arrested along with one (1) black glue gun, three (3) iron cutting saws, and five (51) gold bracelets and three (37) gold rings obtained from the robbery.

Further investigation into the four arrested Lin Thant Aungs revealed that they had stayed at Casa Myanmar Hotel on March 20 and had been looking at the situation of the gold shops on Maha Bandula Road due to financial need. After looking, they chose to rob the “Tate Shein” gold shop. The black glue gun used in the robbery was purchased from a store on Maha Bandula Road near Sule Pagoda, and Lin Thant Aung used the glue gun to lead the robbery.

The perpetrators of the robbery of the gold items at gunpoint at the Tate Shein gold shop were Lin Thant Aung, Kaung Khant Thura (b) Wathong, According to the relevant statement, Min Khant Ko (b), Phoe Ka, and Thet Htoo Zin were identified and arrested within six hours of the incident, along with the evidence and gold items. They are continuing to take effective action in accordance with the law.
