The Eastern District of Yangon Region, which used to have a four-hour on-and-off system, has been divided into three groups and has been changed to a four-hour on-and-off system, according to the announcements of the Township Electricity Offices.

Starting from March 24, the townships in the Eastern District of Yangon Region will be receiving such electricity.

“We inform you that there will be a four-hour on-and-off system for three groups, A, B, and C,” the Yankin Township Electricity Distribution Board wrote on social media.

The Eastern District of Yangon Region includes Yankin, North Dagon, Thaketa, Dawbon, Thingangyun, Tamwe, North Okkalapa, Mingalar Taung Nyunt, South Dagon, East Dagon, Dagon Seikkan, South Okkalapa, Botahtaung, and Pazundaung townships.

“I noticed that the power supply is no longer on for 4 hours as before. Now it is also off,” said a resident of Thaketa Township.

The Ministry of Electric Power told the media in early March that the electricity supply is being provided to the two districts of Yangon Region, the Eastern and Western districts, on a 4-hour rotation system, and to the remaining two districts on a 4-hour rotation system, with additional power being provided at night if there is excess power.
