The Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) announced on March 24 that it has arrested some Chinese nationals in Mongshu Township along with equipment used in online money laundering and will transfer them to China.
According to the SSPP statement, an illegal money laundering gang was reported to be present in a forest in Mengkwang Village Tract, Mongshu Township, southern Shan State. In the early morning of March 23, the SSPP/SSA arrested the money laundering gang and seized some illegal Chinese nationals and related equipment such as various phones, I Pads, and various computers.
The arrested Chinese nationals will be transferred back to their respective countries in China.
The SSPP/SSA has issued a statement to all the parents, including their commanders, department heads, and administrative officials, not to accept online money laundering gangs, whether in groups or individually, within the administrative area. On May 13, 2024, The SSPP/SSA has issued an order, stating that if anyone is found to be involved in online money laundering gangs, they will be arrested and taken effective action.
