The Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) on July 29 called for a ceasefire in the fighting in Shan State (North) and pledged to protect regional stability in Shan State (South).

The 2024 six-month meeting of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) was held from July 26 to 28 at its headquarters in Loei Taing Lian, and the statement included the above.

The RCSS said in a statement that it is deeply saddened that the Shan people have lost their homes, suffered casualties, and been displaced due to the fighting in Shan State (North), while children, women, and the elderly are also facing hardships and difficulties.

For more than three years, the country has been in a state of continuous fighting, economic decline, and human rights violations. The RCSS said that the increasing number of criminals and bandits in various areas due to the weakening of the rule of law has caused great social hardship and difficulties for the people.

The RCSS said that the RCSS will work with the people to protect stability in Shan State (South) and prevent the loss of lives, homes, and property of the people.

Therefore, the RCSS strongly urges relevant organizations to meet face to face and negotiate a ceasefire and to work towards building a federal democratic union.

The Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) is also a Shan ethnic armed organization that has signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
