The Chairman of the State Executive Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a state-level goodwill visit to Russia, and the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, met at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow this evening (March 4) local time.

First, the Chairman of the State Executive Council, the Prime Minister, was welcomed by the President of the Russian Federation and had a separate meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the State Executive Council, the Council’s Joint Secretary, General Ye Win Oo, Council members, General Nyo Saw, Union Ministers U Than Swe, General Moe Aung, and Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Lin Ohn. The President of the Russian Federation was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for Foreign Policy, the Minister of Industry and Trade, and officials and heads of government.

At the meeting, the President of the Russian Federation H.E. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin expressed his pleasure at meeting with him for the second time. He said that the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Myanmar has brought great benefits to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. During this visit, agreements on bilateral cooperation will be signed. Trade between the two countries has also improved more than before. Our two countries are also cooperating on the international front. He would like to express his pleasure at this meeting in Moscow and delivered a welcoming speech.

Then, the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Myanmar, the Prime Minister, expressed his gratitude for the meeting in Moscow. He said that they met at the (7)th Far East Economic Forum and this is the second time that they have met. Russia is a good and old friend of Myanmar. They are friendly countries despite their distance. The two countries have lived side by side since ancient times. The diplomatic relations between the two countries have been established for (77) years. This meeting is very beneficial for our two countries. I would like to express my gratitude for the meeting.

They then discussed issues related to enhancing bilateral friendship and cooperation, manufacturing and trade issues, economic development, investment issues, and cooperation in agriculture, livestock and other sectors.
