Crystal Palace became the 45th club to win the FA Cup for the first time by defeating Manchester City.

As a result, they qualified for the Europa League next season.

The 2024–25 FA Cup Final was held at Wembley Stadium in London on 17 May, with Palace defeating Manchester City 1–0.

Manchester City were the dominant force throughout the match, with 78% possession, 23 shots on goal and six clear chances, but they were unable to convert a counter-attack by Aziz in the first 16 minutes and were defeated.

In the 24th minute of the first half, Palace goalkeeper Henderson handled the ball outside the area, but VAR reviewed it and ruled it was not a goal, so he was not sent off.

He also saved a penalty from Marouane Fellaini in the 36th minute.

Palace are in their third FA Cup final (1989–90, 2015–16, 2024–2025).

Palace have won their first major championship and are also competing in European competition for the first time.

Manchester City have reached the final in three consecutive seasons, but have finished second in two consecutive years, missing out on the chance to become joint third most successful club in the competition, along with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.

It is also the first time since Guardiola took charge in 2016–27 that Manchester City have failed to win a major trophy.

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Bournemouth defender Hussen, the 20-year-old Dutch-born Spain international joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer for a fee of £12.6m and has been signed by Real Madrid just one season after joining the club.

He has made 34 appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth this season, including 30 in the Premier League, scoring three goals.

He has rejected offers from Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle.

Real Madrid will pay a £50m (€59.5m) buyout clause for the defender, who will sign a five-year contract until 2030.

Bournemouth made a huge profit by selling him after just one season, with his former clubs Juventus taking 10% and Malaga taking 5% of the transfer fee.

Hussen played for the Spanish clubs Costa Unida, Malaga and Juventus as a youth player, before starting his professional career with Juventus.

In January 2024, he joined Bournemouth on a six-year contract after spending half a season on loan at Roma.

He initially played for the Netherlands under-17s, under-18s and under-19s, but has since moved to the Spain under-21s and has made two appearances for the Spanish national team.
