Dr. Ye Tint Htun, Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, urged entrepreneurs to send their exported products to the laboratory, as they may be returned from the port if they do not meet the standards of the country of purchase.
Indonesia is the first country to require food safety when exporting agricultural products under its Food Safety Law, and the relevant country’s accredited laboratory requires certification. Therefore, on November 1, 2023, a meeting was held at the Federation to discuss the requirements and recommendations for laboratory testing of agricultural products exported from Myanmar to Indonesia.
Previously, Myanmar did not have the laboratory equipment and skilled personnel to test agricultural products, so it was not yet possible to fully perform the test. However, now the laboratory is ready, and when exporting agricultural products to Indonesia, pesticides, Myanmar has made continuous efforts to eliminate pesticide residues and fungal diseases, and has now received ISO 17025 certification. Agricultural export businesses can now export to good markets with dignity.
