U Ye Min Aung, Vice President of the Federation of Myanmar Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said, “There have been smooth trade between Indonesia and Myanmar in the Sanitary and Phytosanitary sector, but there have also been difficult times. Since the country has provided internationally recognized ISO certification for agricultural products exported abroad, it is convenient for farmers and benefits for exporters. Indonesia has a large population in Southeast Asia, so it needs more agricultural products, and it also needs to expand its market for our country. It is important to deliver quality products to a large market. We invite you to discuss the needs of laboratory testing at this meeting.”
Agriculture, Dr. Ye Tint Htun, Director General of the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Livestock and Irrigation, said, “When conducting international trade, it is necessary to know the requirements, limitations, and standards of the country of purchase. If the requirements cannot be met, the goods may be returned from the port. Today’s discussion is about checking agricultural products for chemical residues, fungal toxins, and toxic substances. It is not possible to take samples of all products exported to other countries, including Indonesia, and the same is true internationally. We want entrepreneurs to send only representative crop samples of their exports to the laboratory. We need to take representative crop samples for export. Farmers should also ensure that pesticides and chemical residues are not used. Entrepreneurs should educate farmers, provide technology, and encourage them to do the same.”
