The U.S. Embassy in Myanmar announced on April 13 that the United States will continue to support those working to return Myanmar to a democratic path and that it will continue to work with the international community to promote peace and security in the region.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he would like to extend his condolences to the people of Myanmar on the occasion of the Myanmar New Year, Thingyan, and to extend his condolences to the people of Myanmar on behalf of the United States.
Thingyan is a time to reflect on the past and look forward to a better future, and we stand in solidarity with the many people who have experienced grief and loss following the March 28 earthquake this year.
The United States stands with the people of Myanmar during this difficult time, and we will continue to join the international community in providing life-saving humanitarian assistance and rebuilding efforts, the U.S. Embassy in Myanmar said.
The statement also said that in the face of such difficulties, the courage and faith of the Burmese people are more evident than ever, and that the pandemic has reminded us of our hope for a new beginning and a better tomorrow.
The US Embassy in Myanmar said it remains committed to supporting those working to return Myanmar to a democratic path and to working together for regional peace and security.
The embassy also expressed its hope that the new year will bring hope and strength to all Burmese people, as the Thingyan festival approaches.
