Myanmar National Airlines said in a statement that the plane was able to land safely without any injuries to passengers and crew members in the incident that occurred due to a hot brake system, and that it apologized to the traveling public.

The statement said that at approximately 18:35 on May 6, Myanmar National Airlines flight UB-812, Boeing XY-ALV, carrying 143 passengers from Mandalay to Yangon, was taking off when an abnormal signal was detected on the runway, prompting the pilot to stop the plane on the runway. While doing so, the plane’s left tire burst and caught fire due to the hot brake system, which was extinguished in time.

The statement continued by saying that the remaining wheels of the plane were intact and the plane was able to land safely on the runway at the northern end of the runway. The flight crew followed the safety operating procedures and all passengers and crew were safely transported to the airport terminal without any injuries. The passengers were transferred to alternative flights to Yangon, and the passengers’ needs were met, the statement said.

In addition, Myanmar National Airlines apologized to the passengers and their families regarding the incident and announced that Myanmar National Airlines is conducting a systematic investigation into the incident.

Regarding the incident, a passenger on the flight said, “After accelerating to take off, I suddenly realized that the deskstop had been closed. What happened? The plane turned around and accelerated again. The wheels stopped grinding. There were noises. The captain slowly regained control and stopped the plane. A divine revelation told a friend. The wheel had burst, and the passenger shared his experience on social media.
