Three South Korean nationals who illegally entered Myanmar through border routes have been transferred again.
Three South Korean nationals who illegally entered Myanmar through border routes via some neighboring countries, including Thailand, and committed online gambling, online fraud, and crimes in Myawaddy Township, Myawaddy, Karen State – Shwe Kuk Kol, Mae Htaw Tha Lay (KK Park) and Kyaukt areas were transferred to their respective countries through the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2 today (June 10) in accordance with the law and procedures, in line with humanitarian considerations and friendship between countries.
In order to ensure that the deportation process is systematic and convenient, U Myint Phone, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, Karen State, and officials inspected the deportation processes of the departmental joint teams, the completeness of the statistics, and the accuracy of the information, and ordered them to make necessary additions.
Then, the deportation ceremony was held, and U Myint Phone, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Immigration and Population, Karen State, and officials, Counselor Mr. Rhee Wuchan and officials from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Thailand, and officials from the Immigration Department of Tak Province, Thailand, were present. Myanmar officials systematically handed over the documents related to deportation to the officials of the relevant countries.
From January 30 to June 10, 2025, a total of 9,114 foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally were identified and detained, of whom 8,754 were systematically deported to relevant countries through Thailand in accordance with legal procedures. The remaining 360 foreign nationals are ready to be transferred to relevant countries and are being well-maintained.
The state is taking action to identify and arrest those involved in online scam center operations and the foreigners behind them, and is also cooperating to quickly deport foreigners who are in distress for various reasons and those who have been trafficked to their respective countries.
