A man who spread false news that cyclists without shoes were being fined has been arrested, according to sources close to the security forces in Paung Township, Siar Mon State.
U Kyaw A Ka Win (b) Phoe Wa, 48, who lives in front of the football field, between Myothit (6th) and (7th) streets, in Kada Ward, Paung Township, and drives a motorcycle carrier, went live on his Facebook page under the name Ko Phoe Wa and said, “Now, in the evening, they are wearing shoes to protect themselves from the wind. Now, they are also being caught without shoes. In the morning, someone came and said, ‘I was fined 30,000 kyats for riding a bicycle without shoes. I am a Myanmar citizen. ……….”
A security official close to the security forces said that the security forces interrogated U Kyaw A Ka Win (b) Phoe Wa and found that he was unable to give a precise answer to the question. He also revealed that he had broadcast the live broadcast with the intention of causing panic among the public and discrediting the government, according to a source close to the security forces.
He continued, “It is reported that a case has been opened against U Kyaw A Ka Win (b) Phoe Wa, who spread false news on the Facebook social networking site.”
It is reported that a case has been opened against U Kyaw A Ka Win (b) Phoe Wa at the Paung Township Police Station under Section 505 of the Penal Code (P) 109/2025 regarding the incident.
