Kim Yo-jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has said that the idea of denuclearizing North Korea is impossible and has strongly criticized US-led efforts to eliminate the North’s nuclear weapons.

Kim Yo-jong’s comments came after top diplomats from South Korea, Japan and the US met privately at a NATO summit last week and reaffirmed their commitment to the complete denuclearization of North Korea.

Kim Yo-jong said any talks to get North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons were a daydream that would never come true, North Korea’s state-run KCNA news agency reported on April 9.

“If anyone openly speaks out on the issue of denuclearization, it will be considered the most hostile act that denies North Korea’s sovereignty,” Kim Yo-jong said on April 8.

The United States, Japan and South Korea are all talking about denuclearization, Kim Yo-jong said, and are expressing their own predicament.
