As of 6 p.m. on April 9, the number of deaths due to the earthquake has reached (3,649), injuries (5,018), and missing (145).
According to the figures received today (April 9), there have been (3,649) deaths, (5,018) injuries, and (145) missing due to the Mandalay earthquake, and relief and rescue efforts are underway from (22) countries, said Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun, spokesman for the State Executive Council.
“As of 6 p.m. today, there have been a total of 3,649 deaths due to the earthquake, a total of 5,018 injuries, and a total of 145 missing. The State Government also shares its grief with the families of the deceased, injured, and missing. 106 aircraft from 22 countries have arrived to provide relief and assistance. 1,738 rescue workers, over 1,472 tons of supplies, and over 1,100 tons of relief supplies have arrived,” Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said.
Major General Zaw Min Tun said that 22 countries, including Russia, China, China (Hong Kong), India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, UAE, Laos, Belarus, Indonesia, Bhutan, Philippines, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, Turkey, USA, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Australia, Azerbaijan, have sent relief and relief supplies to Myanmar.
On March 28, at 12:51:02 PM local time, a very strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck about 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay, causing extensive damage in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, northeastern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, and Bago Region.
