The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a statement stating that scattered rain and thundershowers are likely to occur in various regions and states from April 10 to 17.

According to the statement, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area (WLA) over the west-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal has weakened into a Low Pressure Area (LPA). The low pressure area is expected to move north-northeastwards and gradually weaken over the central Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours.

Due to the intensity of the low pressure area, heavy rain and thundershowers are likely to occur in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayah State, Scattered thunderstorms are possible in Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State and Shan State.

Similarly, from April 12 to 17, scattered thunderstorms are possible in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayah State, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State and Shan State, with scattered thunderstorms and heavy rain in some areas.

Due to this, natural disasters such as strong winds, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, flash floods and landslides may occur along with heavy rain. Therefore, those living near highlands in these areas should be aware of the risk of landslides, and those living near small rivers and streams should be aware of the risk of flooding and inundation.
