The opening ceremonies for the 2025-2026 academic year’s Basic Military Education and Advanced Military Education courses for university training personnel and students were held on February 9.

The opening ceremonies for the 2025-2026 academic year’s Basic Military Education and Advanced Military Education courses for university training personnel were held in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, Taunggyi Town, Shan State (South), Mawlamyine Town, Mon State, Kamayut Township, Yangon Region, Pathein Town, Ayeyarwady Region, Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region, and Taungoo Town, Bago Region.

The opening ceremonies were attended by the Chiefs of Regions and States, Commanders of the relevant Regional Commands, officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the Office of the Director of the People’s Army and Border Forces, departmental officials, rectors of various universities, university training personnel, training officers, training instructors, and students. The students attended and the regional commanders and officials delivered opening remarks.

Then, the region and state chief ministers, regional commanders and officials presented honorariums and food to the university training unit teachers and students, and the officials accepted them.

The courses that are now open are the first-year basic military education course, the second-year basic military education course, the first-year advanced military education course, and the second-year advanced military education course, and they will be taught according to the normal course and camp training periods.

By teaching and training basic military education and advanced military education to students studying at universities, they will gain knowledge about national defense and will be helped when they carry out the duties of the country in the future. With the aim of strengthening their love for the country and patriotism, and building their confidence, conviction, and competence, the university training unit teachers and students who volunteer for the university training unit will be provided by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defense (Army), According to a press release, the training courses are being offered by the university training units of the Directorate of Militia and Border Forces.
