The 2025 election can be said to be a successful election and I am grateful to the people who voted,” said Acting President and Chairman of the National Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The Acting President made this statement while addressing the Chairman of the Union Election Commission, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and Chief Ministers of Regions and States at the National Defense and Security Council Office on February 9.
The Acting President said that since December 28, 2025, the multi-party democratic general election was successfully held in 263 townships in three phases. The people actively voted in the election and came to the polling stations in an orderly manner. The people who voted in a systematic manner showed their support for the election and the political actions of the state government. Some people who do not share political views did not participate in the election. Out of the 24 million eligible voters nationwide, more than 13.14 million people voted, resulting in a voter turnout of 54.22 percent. According to the statistics published in international elections, general elections were held in 199 countries in the period around 2025, and in 50 countries, the voter turnout was less than 54 percent. These include countries such as France, Algeria, Bulgaria, Egypt, Croatia, Jamaica, and Japan, and even countries with developed democracies. Therefore, the election held in our country can be said to be a successful election.

In addition, votes were cast using Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVMs). These MEVMs were tested and tested several times before the election and were used in the election. We had to fulfill our duties in accordance with the constitution due to vote rigging in the 2020 multi-party democratic general election. Therefore, we have conducted the 2024 Population and Housing Census to ensure the accuracy of the voter lists during the election, and we have repeatedly checked the voter lists to ensure that there are no errors. Although there were people who were not included in the voter list for various reasons, we have done our best to ensure that there are no errors in the voter list. The acting president said that when casting votes using Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVMs), each MEVM machine was used separately at each polling station, and no connections were made.
