Ascend International Preparatory College and donors have donated 500,000 kyats to the Maha Gandharyon Monastery in Amarapura Township, where about 50 buildings were damaged in the earthquake.
The earthquake that struck on March 28 damaged more than 50 buildings at the Maha Gandharyon Monastery, which is home to more than 800 monks, including lay monks.
“There are more than 100 large and small buildings. Eight of the buildings have completely collapsed. Another 40 or 50 buildings are damaged. Currently, the monks are living in tents made of palm leaves. The work of cleaning and preparing the buildings has begun,” said Sayadaw Ashin Wannissara of the Maha Gandharyon Monastery.
