The KIA, TNLA, KNDF, KNPP and AA groups attacked military bases during the ceasefire period of April 6, according to Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Htun, spokesman for the State Executive Council.
“After the Tatmadaw issued a ceasefire statement from April 2 to 22, the KIA launched a long-range attack on the military headquarters in Bhamo at around 10:30 p.m. yesterday. The TNLA also engaged in a clash in Taung Kham around 12:30 p.m. yesterday. The KNDF and KNPP fired at a group of people taking security measures near the Baw La Khe Forest Office at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday. The AA fired at a military vessel taking security measures in Gwe town from a long range. They fired at security measures in Kyauk Phyu from a long range,” Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Htun said on April 7.
The Tatmadaw, in sympathy with the people of the country affected by the earthquake disaster, with the aim of speeding up relief and rehabilitation work, and with the aim of maintaining peace and stability, has declared a temporary ceasefire from April 2 to 22, 2025.
The Tatmadaw has not attacked any ethnic armed group camp first and will only respond if they attack, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Planning Council and Prime Minister, while addressing a donation ceremony for relief and rehabilitation work in the earthquake-affected areas held at Tabaung Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on April 1.
“As for us, when it comes to insurgents and armed groups, we do not fight against them. However, if they come to our camps and cities and attack them, we will take the initiative to attack the places where they are preparing to attack us. If they do not do this, we have nothing to do. If they do this, we will have to respond,” said the Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Planning Council.
