Humanitarian aid supplies from China, including tents, medical supplies, blankets, bedding, mosquito nets and general consumer goods, arrived again on March 31.

The severe earthquake that struck Myanmar caused damage in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Northeastern Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and Bago Region. An Air China plane carrying humanitarian aid supplies from the People’s Republic of China for the earthquake-affected people in these areas arrived in Yangon from Beijing Airport this afternoon.

The plane, carrying tents, medical supplies, blankets, bedding, mosquito nets and general consumer goods weighing (87,175) kg, arrived at Yangon International Airport and was greeted by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and regional ministers, senior military officers, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar H.E.Mrs.Ma Jia and embassy officials, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Officials from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement welcomed them.

Then, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China explained the donation, and the Chief Minister of the Region expressed his gratitude and accepted the items.

The relief items were loaded onto vehicles by military personnel, staff from the Yangon City Development Committee, and local cargo workers, and are being arranged to be transported to the earthquake-stricken areas under the supervision of the Yangon Region Government.
