Girona coach Michel, who has been tipped as a potential replacement for Pep Guardiola if he leaves Manchester City, has said he is open to taking over at any club.

The former midfielder, who played most of his career for Vallecano, began his coaching career at Vallecano’s youth team and has also managed Huesca.

Girona appointed him as their new manager in 2021 after guiding Vallecano and Huesca to promotion from Segunda to La Liga, where he also helped the club reach the play-offs in their first season.

He also became a manager to watch after his arrival in La Liga, where he helped the club secure a third-place finish in the 2023-24 season and qualify for the Champions League.

Girona are owned by City Football Group, which owns Manchester City, so there is speculation that Mitchell is among the managers City officials are considering if Guardiola leaves.

Asked about the situation, Mitchell said: “I’m ready. I think I’m ready to manage any team. I don’t know if they (Manchester City) see it that way. Obviously, every environment is different. But I have the qualities that could fit in. I’d like to try.”
