Thai authorities arrested 27 foreigners on February 14 for illegally crossing the Thaung Rin River, which separates the Thai-Myanmar border, into Mae Sot, Thailand, according to a report in local Thai news outlet AEC NEWS.
Soldiers from Task Force Rajamanu in Mae Sot, Thailand, arrested 26 Ethiopians and one Kenyan for illegally entering Thailand.
On February 14, 2026, soldiers from Task Force Rajamanu, a special patrol unit from the infantry battalion, conducted patrolling and surveillance operations along the Thai-Myanmar border along the Thaung Rin River in the area of Ban Mae Taeng, Mu 1, Rai 70, Tha Saeng Lut Township, Mae Sot District, Mae Sot Province.
The special forces found suspicious individuals resembling foreigners and during the investigation, they found 26 Ethiopians (23 males and 3 females) and 1 Kenyan (1 male), a total of 27.

The foreigners admitted to illegally entering Thailand through natural border crossings. They were found on the shore of a lagoon and were foreigners who had illegally crossed the border without permission.
Therefore, Thai authorities arrested them and transferred them to the Immigration Police Checkpoint (Mae Sot Immigration Checkpoint) for further legal action.
