Atletico Madrid’s Argentine striker Alvarez says he doesn’t have tattoos because he doesn’t think they’re necessary, rather because he doesn’t want to be different.
Alvarez, 25, is one of the few players in modern football who doesn’t have tattoos, and when asked by L’Equipe, he said it was a rule his father forbade him to have when he was young.
“One day when I was in the national team, someone commented that I was the only one without a tattoo. I didn’t do it to make myself different from the others. When I was a child, my father forbade me from getting tattoos, smoking, drinking. Now that I’m an adult and can decide everything, I don’t feel the need to have any of that,” Alvarez said.
Alvarez has been in great form at City and Atletico, and is reportedly being linked with a move to Barcelona to replace Robert Lewandowski next summer.

When asked about this, Alvarez said: “In Spain, there is a lot of talk about me and Barcelona. Last year, we also talked about PSG. It is true that my agent and PSG officials have had discussions. But nothing has happened. Right now, I am focused on Atletico. We will see what happens at the end of the season.”
