In Mon State, fuel was previously imported from Thilawa Port in Yangon, but since the last week of October, it has been distributed through the Razar Min fuel tanks in Kadungpao Village, Mudon Township, Mon State, according to a fuel trader.
He continued, “We put fuel into the tanks from a fuel tanker. It takes a long time to fill the fuel tankers from those tanks, so the tankers cannot come out. In Mawlamyine, they are distributing it in turns, but there is not enough. So there is a fuel shortage.”
He also said that many fuel tankers are waiting at the Kadungpao ports.

There are also suggestions that relevant departments and businesses should cooperate to ensure that there is no shortage of fuel in Mon State.
A motorcycle carrier from Mawlamyine said that while Mon State is facing a shortage of fuel, some fuel shops are selling at high prices and that they are buying gasoline on the black market for (5,000) kyats per liter.
He continued, “The shortage of fuel is a problem for those of us who use it regularly. When fuel is sold, we have to wait a long time for it to be filled. So, we have to fill it at random at shops outside, which costs more money.”
In addition, farmers are facing difficulties due to the shortage of fuel because it is the rice harvest season, according to their statements.
“This year, it is raining during the rice harvest season, so we have to use machinery to harvest the rice on time. But we are running out of fuel, so we cannot harvest the rice. The rice is also damaged by the rain. This year, the rice is also suffering from the rainy season,” said a farmer from Paung Township.
In addition, there are reports that Mon State is facing a fuel shortage because fuel is being exported to border towns such as Myawaddy and Pagoda.
