Liverpool forward Salah has criticised UEFA for failing to include a statement of condolence on the death of Palestinian footballer Suleiman El-Obeid.

Salah criticised UEFA for failing to include a cause of death for Obeid.

The 41-year-old, who was dubbed the Pele of Palestinian football, was killed in an Israeli airstrike while waiting to receive humanitarian aid in the southern Gaza Strip.

UEFA wrote on social media: “Farewell to Suleiman El-Obeid, the Palestinian Pele. A talented man who gave hope to so many children even in the darkest of times.”

Salah retweeted the post and wrote: “Can you tell us how, where and why he died?”

Salah recently called for more humanitarian aid to be delivered to Gaza.

Obeid played over 100 games as a player, scoring two goals in 24 appearances for the Palestinian national team.

Arsenal manager Arteta says he is still looking for new players in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal have spent around £190m this summer on signings including Yokeres, Madu Ake, Zubayr Mendy, Norwich City, Mosquera and Kepa.

“We’ll see what happens in the squad in the next few weeks.

But we’re still looking. There are a few players who will leave the club,” Arteta said.

Arteta is hoping to help the club win their first major trophy since 2020 next season.

Arsenal completed their pre-season with a 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
