The initial damage value of the earthquake in 10 regions and states, including the Nay Pyi Taw Council, is 3,804.549 billion kyats, said the Chairman of the State Planning and Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Prime Minister.
Speaking at the second donation ceremony for the people affected by the Mandalay earthquake and for the rehabilitation work, held at the Bayintnaung Hall in Nay Pyi Taw this afternoon (May 29), the Chairman of the State Planning and Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the Prime Minister, made the following statement.
The earthquake affected 374 wards, 944 village tracts, 2,081 villages, 16,2167 households, and a total population of 506,069 people in 10 regions and states, including the Nay Pyi Taw Council, with 3,739 deaths and 68 missing. There were 5104 injuries, and damage to homes, buildings and other property included 51210 homes, 431 road works, 103 bridges, 83 railway damage and 11 railway bridges, 6730 mobile communication stations, 10 power lines, 3435 power poles, 594 irrigation canals, 6 embankments, 11338 departmental buildings, 384 hospitals, 364 clinics, 166 ancient buildings and museums, 2409 basic education schools, 72 higher education schools, 90 private schools, 6469 pagodas, 5588 monasteries, nunneries and other religious buildings, 344 private factories and workshops, 78.5 acres of crops, The Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Association, said that 133,700 animals were affected and the total initial damage cost was 3,804.549 billion kyats.
