Locals said that rain fell in some areas, including Yangon, as temperatures rose.
Yangon has been raining since the morning of April 29, and some townships have been experiencing heavy rain all night, according to some Yangon residents.
“It started raining late at night. It continued to rain until noon today (April 29). It wasn’t heavy rain. It stopped raining. It was quite hot when it rained,” said a resident of North Dagon Township.
Similarly, in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, some trees fell due to the rain and wind.
At around 6:30 a.m. on April 29, the Myanmar Fire Service reported that a tree had fallen and blocked the road at the corner of Laekkan Road and Keut Thit Road in Kyaitaw Ward, Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Yangon Region, and one fire engine and a fire brigade were deployed to clear the area.
According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, due to the speed of the cyclonic circulation moving from the west, the speed of the cyclonic circulation moving from the east, the meeting of the warm air from the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal with the cold air moving from the high pressure area over mainland China, and the strong development of thermal clouds, scattered rain and thundershowers are expected in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kachin State, Kayah State, Karen State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State and Shan State during May 4. In some areas, there may be localized and scattered heavy rain.
