The Premier League confirmed on Thursday that it will open the summer transfer window twice, as Manchester City and Chelsea are set to compete in the Club World Cup next summer.

Premier League club officials have been discussing whether to close the summer transfer window before the start of the new season, but an agreement has not been reached, with the market set to open twice.

The Club World Cup, which has been expanded to include 32 clubs, will be held from June 14 to July 13 in 2025.

The tournament will be hosted by the United States, and Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea will be competing.

The Premier League is therefore planning to open the transfer window twice to allow Manchester City and Chelsea to prepare.

The summer transfer window will be open once from June 1 to June 10 and once from June 16 to September 1, according to a meeting between club owners and club officials held on Thursday.

The Premier League has opened the window twice after FIFA ordered football associations with clubs competing in the Club World Cup to open the window as a special event between June 1 and 10.

Manchester City are favourites to win the Club World Cup, while Chelsea are fourth.
