A young woman in Nyaung-kin Township is receiving treatment after being stabbed nine times by her ex-boyfriend.

The incident occurred on the evening of May 19 when the young woman went to meet her ex-boyfriend, Phyo Hein Htet, because she had an appointment to talk.

The victim’s friend wrote on social media that the ex-boyfriend then stabbed her.

“My ex-boyfriend Phyo Hein Htet said, ‘Come out for a moment.’ Let’s talk.” He called out. I was afraid that he would cause trouble at a deserted night, so I went to a crowded place like City Mart. Then, we went to City Mart together and told him that I was tired from work and that I was not comfortable with the girl. As we were talking, he followed me from behind as I was leaving because it was almost 9 pm. On the way, I told him that I would be going back because the rain was setting in, but he followed me saying, “I just want to talk for 5 minutes.” Anyway, I didn’t think it was worth risking my life. The neighborhood where my friend’s house is located in Yankin is deserted, with houses and houses all around, and the streets were deserted, so I was anxious to get home before it got dark. When we reached a deserted alley, he asked me if there were any people here, and then he grabbed me from behind and started stabbing me with a knife. I covered my mouth so that I couldn’t scream, and he stabbed me repeatedly in the neck and stomach. I was also stabbed repeatedly, so my eyes were black and I sat down against the wall of the alley.

I was lucky that my friend opened the door to the house where I live. In other words, he tried to kill me. I only escaped because I was still conscious,” the victim said.
