The Guardian has published rare footage of former State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and former President U Win Myint in court, as well as details of Suu Kyi’s daily life in prison.
Little has been heard about Suu Kyi since the military took over power in February 2021.
Suu Kyi is being held in a high-security prison, with only her legal team allowed to visit her occasionally.
The footage, filmed in August and December 2022, shows Suu Kyi sitting in a makeshift courtroom with U Win Myint.
Suu Kyi faces a range of charges and has been sentenced to 33 years in prison.
The footage and documents were provided to The Guardian by the People’s Arms group.
The footage details Suu Kyi’s daily life in a detention centre in Nay Pyi Taw in January and February 2024.
A prison source not affiliated with the People’s Arms group also confirmed the videos.
