Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised his players for their ability to handle the pressure as they beat Aston Villa in a crucial Champions League tie.
Manchester City have struggled this season with the ACL injury to key midfielder Rodri, leaving them in a fight for Champions League qualification.
Manchester City played their last Premier League match against Aston Villa on Tuesday (April 22) and won 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Matheus Nunes.
The win moved City up to third place with 61 points, while Aston Villa are seventh with 57 points.
After the match against Aston Villa, City manager Guardiola said that the pressure on his team to qualify for the Champions League was high and that the players handled it well.
Guardiola said: “Football is emotional for the players and the fans. We had a lot of pressure to qualify for the Champions League next season. But the players have done an incredible job. We are very happy with that. That is important. You don’t need a scientist to understand that.”
City will play Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final on April 27.
If City beat Nottingham Forest in the match, they will reach the FA Cup final for the third year in a row.
