On April 23, at around 8:00 a.m. on the road between Parami Lane 207 and Tin Shu Myaing in Ward (1) of Lashio Township, Lashio District, northern Shan State, two young men robbed, robbed and stabbed a young girl who was returning from teaching orphans.

The two young men robbed, robbed and stabbed the 23-year-old Ma Khaung Nyein girl who was returning from teaching orphans, and she sustained a serious stab wound to her left forearm, requiring six stitches.

A girl named Ma Khaung Nye was teaching at the Thet San Re Orphanage at 7 am and was walking home from the orphanage at 8 am when two young men on a motorbike grabbed her by the arm and searched her body, saying they had something to check. The girl threw her zipped computer and phone away when one of the young men slashed her neck with a long knife. The girl blocked it with her left hand, resulting in a knife wound to her forearm.

“My sister was returning from teaching the children when two young men with knives stole her phone. The sister threw the phone somewhere else and wrestled with her. One of the two young men slashed her neck with a long knife. My sister protected her with her hand and it hit her. When people came out because of the screams, they ran away on their motorbikes. They didn’t take her phone with them. They took a zipped computer bag, thinking it was a phone bag. When they got far away, they threw it away because it was a computer bag. One of the shoes of one of them was left behind,” said Ma Kai Nu, the sister of the girl who returned from teaching the orphans.
