Manchester City have announced that they will pay tribute to veteran Belgian midfielder De Bruyne, who will leave the club at the end of the season, and will unveil a statue in his honour.
The 33-year-old joined the club from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £55m.
He made 421 appearances in all competitions for City, scoring 108 goals in a decade, winning 16 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
De Bruyne’s contract expires at the end of the season and the club have decided not to extend his contract, meaning he will leave on a free transfer.
Manchester City held a farewell ceremony for De Bruyne after the club’s final Premier League home game of the season, against Bournemouth, on May 20.
City players and staff presented De Bruyne with a Guard of Honour, while former team-mates Aguero, Kompany, Fernandinho, Sterling, Sane and Joe Hart paid tribute to him via television.
De Bruyne said City was his home, and thanked the fans for having achieved more than he had expected at the club.
City manager Pep Guardiola was seen in tears.
City announced that they would erect a statue in his honour at the farewell ceremony for De Bruyne, in recognition of his contributions to the club.
