A military helicopter crashed in Bhamo Township on May 20, the State Planning and Administrative Council Press Office announced.
On the afternoon of May 20, military transport helicopters were delivering administrative supplies to troops at forward security posts in Bhamo Township, which are carrying out security and territorial control duties, and while returning, one of the helicopters suddenly developed a mechanical failure and crashed about 14,000 meters southwest of Bhamo, the statement said.
The KIA fired on three helicopters that were assisting the military in Bhamo, Kachin State, hitting two and destroying one, according to a statement from the KIA in exile media.
In addition, video footage and photos of a helicopter crashing and burning in the forest west of Sigan village in Shweku Township, Kachin State are circulating on social media.
The relevant authorities are currently conducting necessary investigations into the crash of the military helicopter, and security forces are conducting search and rescue and necessary security operations around the crash site, the National Security Council (NSC) said.
