The Narcotics Control Police have seized 1.18 billion kyats worth of drugs and ammunition in Tachilek, Shan State (Eastern Region).
According to the statement, the Narcotics Control Police arrested four suspects, namely Nyikat (B) Lawan, Ayplay, Sam Chin and Sai Kham, who were waiting for a tip-off on Bogyoke Street in Wayne Kyaw Ward, Tachilek at 3:30 pm on April 19, along with 602,000 methamphetamine pills and three vehicles, a Vigo, a LEXUS and a CROWN.
Further investigation revealed that at 11 pm on the same day, the person who sold methamphetamine pills, Huy Hta, was found to have 2.45 kg of black opium, 6 kg of ice (methamphetamine), 28,000 methamphetamine pills, 28.5 kg of opium, 100 kg of ketamine, 18 sets of WY brand paramo used in the production of methamphetamine, 3 pistols, 728 rounds of ammunition, and 3 vehicles were seized. The total value of the seized drugs, weapons, and related items was 1.18 billion kyats.
The arrested persons have been taken into custody in accordance with the law and the perpetrators of the series of crimes are being identified, and further action is being taken under the Anti-Money Laundering Act to confiscate the financial benefits and assets obtained from drug trafficking as public funds, according to a statement from the Narcotics Control Police.
