The Palm Oil Door-to-Door Distribution Committee has started selling palm oil to pensioners at a rate of three pisas per person.
Starting from January 21, the sale will be made to employees who come to Myanmar Economic Bank branches in Yangon Region to collect their pensions, said an official from the Yangon Region Palm Oil Door-to-Door Distribution Committee.
“From January 21 to 24, we will be selling at nine Myanmar Economic Banks in Yangon. Mainly for pensioners. We will sell every month,” said an official from the Yangon Region Palm Oil Door-to-Door Distribution Committee.
In this sale, a maximum of three pisas of palm oil is being sold per pensioner, and the price of oil is 8,500 kyats per pisas.
“Some people buy three pisas, while others can buy only one pisas. There are not many people who come to collect their pensions at a commercial bank. In Insein, there are 2,200 a day. In other places, there are not many. At least hundreds,” said an official from the Yangon Region Palm Oil Door-to-Door Distribution Committee.
Palm oil is sold in packs of six, each containing fifty pisas, and can also be purchased individually.
“The main goal is to get palm oil into the hands of the families of pensioners. We can contact you by phone, but pensioners are elderly. We have arranged for them to come and collect their pensions because they are too old to call,” said an official from the committee.
In addition, the committee is planning to sell palm oil to employees in industrial zones and schools, according to the committee.
