Tens of thousands of people were displaced from their homes in Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, due to fighting in Laung Lone Township in December 2024, according to groups assisting displaced people.
On December 23, 2024, tens of thousands of people from villages such as Kyauk Ni Maw, Zalut, Kyauk Wat Pyin, Aok Kyauk Wat, Nya Pyin, Kyauk Ma Tat, and Daung Nan were displaced due to fighting in Laung Lone Township, Dawei District, according to the Dawna Tanintharyi IDP Support Group, which provides food and health care to displaced people.
During the fighting, 394 local IDP households in Laung Lone Peninsula, Tanintharyi Region, received food and health care, according to the Dawna Tanintharyi IDP Support Group, which provides assistance to displaced people.
The Dawna Tanintharyi IDP Support Group announced that it distributed 60 bags of rice, 15 cans of palm oil, 15 cans of noodles, and 15 bags of onions to 394 displaced households, and provided health care to 598 displaced people.
Although the fighting in the region has calmed down, hundreds of displaced people still remain, according to groups providing assistance to the displaced.
