Chauk and Magway are among the 15 hottest cities in the world, with Chauk ranked second, according to Eldoradoweather, a global weather forecasting service, which reported on the afternoon of March 17.
Chauk and Magway, which are both in Magway Region, are ranked second and 13th, respectively.
Chauk is ranked second with a temperature of 44.3 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than Tillaberi in Niger, the hottest city in the world.
Similarly, Magway is ranked 13th with a temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius.
The world’s hottest cities include four cities in Niger, two cities in Myanmar, two cities in Mali, three cities in Burkina Faso, two cities in Senegal, and one city each in Togo and Cameroon.
Temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius in seven regions, including Nay Pyi Taw, but it is not a heat wave or an unusual temperature spike, said U Win Naing, a weather forecaster.
“During March 14-20, daytime temperatures in Yangon, Ayeyarwady, Bago, Nay Pyi Taw, Magway, Mandalay and Sagaing (lower) regions may continue to rise to 39 degrees Celsius and above 40 degrees Celsius. These regions are also experiencing normal high temperatures during the summer (March to May), so it is not an unusual temperature spike or a heat wave,” U Win Naing wrote on his social media page.
