Myanmar Railways has set the ticket prices for the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon route and Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay routes to be operated by modern DEMU trains purchased from Japan.
The ticket prices for these routes are: First class 19,000 kyats for Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw, Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon routes with modern air-conditioned DEMU trains No. (7) Asan/(8) Asan, Kyats 28,000 for upper class, and for Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw, Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay routes with air-conditioned DEMU trains No. (27) Asan/(28) Asan, Kyats 7,000 for ordinary class, Kyats 11,000 for upper class.
Similarly, passengers can buy tickets for the Yangon-Mandalay and Mandalay-Yangon routes, and first class/ordinary class 26,000 kyats, and upper class 39,000 kyats, and tickets will be sold three days in advance.
The Ministry of Transport and Communications, Myanmar Railways, is planning to operate passenger trains on railway sections to facilitate public travel by public trains. Starting from February 28, the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw route No. (7) Asan train and the Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon route No. (8) Asson passenger trains will be connected with new modern DEMU train cars with air conditioning purchased from Japan. The Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw route No. (28) Asson and the Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay route No. (27) Asan passenger trains will be connected with airbag train cars.
The modern air-conditioned DEMU train No. (7) will depart from Yangon Station at 6:00 AM and arrive at Nay Pyi Taw Station at 11:30 AM. The air-conditioned train No. (27) will depart from Nay Pyi Taw Station at 12:00 PM and arrive at Mandalay Station at 5:00 PM.
Similarly, the air-conditioned train No. (28) will depart from Mandalay Station at 6:00 AM and arrive at Nay Pyi Taw Station at 11:00 AM. The modern air-conditioned DEMU train No. (8) will depart from Nay Pyi Taw Station at 12:00 PM and arrive at Yangon Station at 5:30 PM.
The modern air-conditioned DEMU train that will start running on the upgraded Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw railway section will have four first-class coaches, The two upper class coaches will be able to carry a total of 312 passengers, while the Nay Pyi Taw-Mandalay air-conditioned train will be able to carry a total of 330 passengers, with four ordinary coaches and two upper class coaches.
Passengers will be able to change trains at Nay Pyi Taw Station and board the modern air-conditioned DEMU and air-conditioned trains. The Yangon-Mandalay route will stop at Bago, Phyu, Taungoo, Nay Pyi Taw, and Thashi stations. The journey time, including stops at the stations at the beginning and end of the journey, will be only 11 hours. The Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon route will take five and a half hours for the modern air-conditioned DEMU.
