A 4-megawatt hydroelectric power plant is being built on the Hway Htet River in Lahe Township, Naga Self-Administered Zone, Sagaing Region.
The Hway Htet Hydropower Project is under construction from 2023. The 4-megawatt hydroelectric power plant will be able to generate 20.381 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. Once the project is completed, it will be able to generate and distribute electricity to 12 villages and 1,718 households in Lahe and the surrounding area.
Acting President and Chairman of the National Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, inspected the implementation of the Hway Htet Hydropower Project on February 16.

During the inspection, an official at the project briefing room explained the status of the Hui Htike Hydropower Project implementation by fiscal year and the status of completion of the project. The Interim President of the State requested that necessary construction work be carried out before the rainy season, that electricity transmission lines be planned in advance and that power distribution plans be drawn up in advance, that the basic foundations be completed before the rainy season as the weather is harsh, that the project can greatly contribute to the social interests of the region, and that the project be continued to be implemented systematically, and that other necessary instructions be given. He inspected the Hui Htike Hydropower Plant and the construction status of the power plant and gave necessary instructions based on the presentations of the officials.
Then, the Interim President of the State visited Lahe Township, Upon arrival at the Theravada Buddhist Mission (Central) School, the leader of the Naga Mountain Mission, Venerable Mahasaddhamajottikadza Sasthanadajadzadhammasarya Bhaddantasumana, paid homage to him and presented him with a collective donation of money, rice, oil, salt and other items.
The Acting President then asked the Venerable about matters related to the spread of the religion and instructed the officials to fulfill the needs of the Venerable’s instructions. He also met with students in Lahe and encouraged them to make efforts in their education.
