POWERCHINA Resources Ltd and the Myanmar Ministry of Electricity signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the three (3) solar power projects of Kyi Ong Gyi Wa, Kinta and Setu Thara, jointly implemented by POWERCHINA Resources Ltd and the Myanmar Ministry of Electricity on November 7 in Nay Pyi Taw.

The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai, Union Minister of the Myanmar Ministry of Electricity U Nyan Tun, and General Manager of the project company Mr. Jiang Xingcheng.

In their speeches at the ceremony, Ambassador Mr. Chen Hai and Union Minister U Nyan Tun commended the progress of the relevant solar power cooperation projects and expressed their willingness to continue to promote China-Myanmar electricity cooperation, serve the development of both countries, and bring more benefits to the Myanmar people.

Ambassador Mr. Chen Hai also met with Union Minister U Nyan Tun and discussed the implementation of the outcomes of the Third “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Summit, the establishment of China-Myanmar electricity interconnection, They exchanged views on helping to solve Myanmar’s “electricity needs” and providing guarantees for the construction of the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

This time, three solar power plant projects are located in Magway and Mandalay Regions, with a total installed capacity of 90 megawatts, which will provide guarantees for the development of these regions.
