The Sagaing District Fire Department announced that 37 people were rescued alive and 154 people were killed in the six days of search and rescue operations from March 28 to April 2.

The Sagaing District Fire Station was also destroyed by the strong earthquake on March 28, and search and rescue vehicles were also buried under the collapsed station. However, search and rescue teams had difficulty retrieving search and rescue equipment from the village/rescue vehicle and began searching and rescuing people trapped under the collapsed buildings in Sagaing City from 1:10 p.m.

In this operation, the district/township fire brigade, auxiliary fire brigade, Sagaing District Red Cross nurses and social welfare associations worked together to rescue (24) people alive on March 28 and recover (10) dead people.

On March 29, three people were rescued alive, and 54 dead people were recovered, on March 30, twelve dead people were recovered, on March 31, thirteen dead people were recovered, on April 1, thirty-five dead people were recovered, and on April 2, one dead person was recovered alive, and six dead people were recovered, bringing the total number of search and rescue operations conducted to 191.
