A Covid-19 positive male patient has been found in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, according to a press release from the Kyaikto Township Health Department on June 9.
The Covid-19 positive male patient is a (25) year-old man who moved to Kyaikto Township from Yangon and has been renting a house in a neighborhood in Kyaikto Township for about (3) months. He tested positive for Covid-19 during a health check-up to apply for a job, according to a statement from the Kyaikto Township Health Department.
The Covid-19 positive male patient has never been vaccinated against Covid and is currently in good health but is receiving observation at the Kyaikto Township General Hospital, according to the Kyaikto Township Health Department.
The new Covid-19 positive patient is the first patient found in Mon State in (2025).
On May 10, 2024, a 67-year-old woman from Kyauktan Lay village, Kyaikto Township, suddenly experienced shortness of breath and was admitted to Theinzayat District Hospital for treatment. The patient was tested and found to be infected with Covid-19.
During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2022, Mon State reported 5,193 new confirmed cases and 83 deaths, according to the State Department of Public Health and Medical Services.
