The earthquake in the Shwe Hin Thar Monastery in the Sagaing Hills has destroyed more than 30 monastery buildings, killing one monk, five nuns and 12 people, a total of 18 people.

“The Shwe Hin Thar Monastery was founded in 1298. Currently, out of more than 40 monasteries, only two single-storey monasteries, two double-storey monasteries and four monasteries remain. More than 30 monasteries have been destroyed. Seven monasteries have completely collapsed, and more than 20 have partially collapsed. One monk and five nuns have died in the earthquake. 11 people have died, and one woman has been hospitalized today, April 5. That brings the total number of deaths to 18,” said U Thadhamma, the abbot of Shwe Hin Thar Monastery.

The Sayadaw continued by saying that the collapsed buildings are currently being cleared and that one-story buildings are planned to be rebuilt.

The Sukha Shwe Yee Sein Shwe Yadana Shop donated 500,000 kyats to the new Shwe Hintha Temple in Sagaing Hills.

On April 10, the Sukha Shwe Yee Sein Shwe Yadana Shop donated to the new Shwe Hintha Temple in Sagaing Hills, and the donation was received by Sayadaw U Yanya Thiri, the head of the new Shwe Hintha Temple.
