President Donald Trump on June 8 ordered the deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles, California, amid protests and unrest.
The protests began after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided and arrested people suspected of violating immigration laws.
Trump ordered the state military to deploy troops to Los Angeles, California’s second-largest city.
California Governor Gavin Newson said the decision was a deliberate act of incitement.
Federal agents used tear gas to disperse the protesters and arrested some, and Trump deployed the National Guard on the second day of protests.
Trump’s Defense Secretary, Peter Hassett, has also threatened to send the military to the area.
“If violence continues, we will be sending in a full complement of Marines from Camp Pendleton,” Hassett wrote on social media.
