The Chairman of the State Planning Council and the Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, called for continued cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of strategic projects along the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

The Chairman of the State Planning Council and the Prime Minister made the following remarks while attending the Diamond Jubilee Ceremony of the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Myanmar and China held at the Mingalar Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw this morning (June 8).

Myanmar is in an important geographical location where China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor are being implemented. Therefore, the speedy implementation of these projects will create many opportunities for the people of the two countries to jointly achieve sustainable prosperity and development. He also urged the Chairman of the State Planning Council and the Prime Minister to continue cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of strategic projects and cooperation along the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

I would like to express my deep appreciation for China’s continuous positive engagement and good-natured support for our country. I am also grateful for China’s support on the international front regarding the Myanmar issue, and for its support and encouragement for the Myanmar government’s efforts in the peace process, national reunification, and development processes. China’s firm stance reflects the deep friendship and mutual understanding between our two countries, said the Prime Minister.

Myanmar firmly adheres to the one-China policy as a fundamental policy in international relations, and also fully supported the People’s Republic of China’s accession to the United Nations in 1971. The Prime Minister reiterated that the two countries will continue to adhere to the one-China policy to further strengthen bilateral relations and contribute to regional peace and stability.

At this historic juncture, the two countries will work together to further advance their common goals, and will continue to work together with China to build a Myanmar-China community of shared future and accelerate peaceful development for the sake of the long-term common interests of the two peoples and the stable development of the region, the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Assembly, reiterated that Myanmar will work with China to build a community of shared future based on mutual respect and the principles of mutual benefit, and will work closely with China to deepen multi-sectoral cooperation for the common interests of the two peoples.
